Mari – People-oriented work

Mari is a familiar face in the hallways of Ouneva Group’s companies. Her hearty laughter and approachable demeanor are the trademarks of this HR professional.

Mari works as an HR specialist at Ouneva Group. Before joining the Group, she worked in various fields such as IT, renovation construction, and personnel leasing. Mari first studied to become a business clerk at a vocational school, then continued to study business administration, and eventually completed a higher university of applied sciences degree in leadership and business expertise. Through her studies, Mari gained additional skills in business and organizational development as well as leadership abilities. She shares that she also selected courses in the area of workplace well-being management and completed her thesis on applicant-focused recruitment, which further deepened her HR expertise.

While working in the renovation construction field, Mari had her first experience with HR matters and recruitment. She says that when she started in HR tasks, she felt, “This is exactly what I want to do.” The people-oriented nature of the work, in particular, felt like a perfect fit for her.

Before moving to Ouneva Group, Mari worked in personnel leasing, which was a deep dive into the HR world. In that role, she was responsible for all aspects of the employee lifecycle, acted as a supervisor, and managed designated clients in the financial sector. However, when the HR specialist position at Ouneva Group opened up, Mari decided to apply. The job offered better opportunities to influence employees’ daily work life and to improve it. She also saw the large scale of the Group’s operations and the new industry as positive challenges.

Ouneva Group’s goal is to be the most attractive employer in the industrial sector by 2030. Progress has already been made, as significant efforts have been invested in personnel matters. HR development projects have focused on improving recruitment, workplace well-being, occupational safety, and leadership skills. To ensure the availability of employees, regional cooperation with educational institutions, students, and other stakeholders has been deepened. Building the employer brand has also been one of the most significant areas of Mari’s work.

For Mari, the significance of her work comes from its people-oriented nature and the opportunity to improve employees’ work life. It has been rewarding to see the results of her work. Meeting job applicants and students brings her joy during her workdays. “I am currently in exactly the right job and in the right place,” Mari sums up. The development work will continue in the future, in line with our new strategy.
